RRC tutor Carl Latimer will be representing Great Britain on 27th October at the Multi sport European Championships on the island of Ibiza. Carl will be competing in the Age Group Middle Distance Triathlon, racing against competitors who have qualified from all over Europe.
Middle distance triathlon (also known as “half iron man distance”) is a gruelling event by anyone’s standards – a 1900m open water swim, 56 mile bike and a half marathon, however at this level Carl will be up against the best in his age group so the pressure will be on.
In order to qualify to represent his country and pull on the coveted GB Tri suit Carl won his age group at a middle distance event in the Lake District on a wet and windy day in June – hopefully the weather in Ibiza will be kinder and he will be equally pleased with his race!
Whilst not new to triathlon (Carl has completed dozens of races from short sprints to Ironman events) this is the first time he has represented Great Britain, and RRC were delighted to sponsor him for the event. Managing Director Gary Fallaize said “We are thrilled to be sponsoring Carl in this event and wish him the very best of luck on day!”
Carl retired from the fire service earlier this year and is now a specialist tutor for RRC. Delivering bespoke emergency training for clients around the country using his 36 years of experience, 26 of those as a watch manager. The courses are highly interactive, delegates and clients are very complimentary about his engaging delivery and practical experience of subject matter.
