The Safety and Health practitioner is a health and safety industry magazine and news website. Annually, they present a Safety & Health Expo at the ExCel Centre in London, on 18th – 20th June, which is Europe’s leading health and safety event. Within the event there will be over 350+ industry expert companies exhibiting; there will be celebrity key note speakers attending, and the latest in innovative H&S products on show.
RRC have been exhibiting at the SHExpo for the last 15 years, and have always found it to be beneficial. It is an annual highlight of our year, and a fantastic chance to showcase any prospective new courses, products and discounts to our target demographic.
If you are contemplating attending this year, here are three reasons why you should;
Reasons to Attend
1. Networking
The SHExpo 2019 will have a dedicated forum area specifically aimed at encouraging visitors to network. You can take part in discussions, whilst making new contacts.
The importance of networking cannot be reiterated enough. Networking allows you to showcase either yourself, or your business, to key industry figures. It is all about putting yourself out there to meet other like-minded individuals, and scoping both what you can offer, and potentially gain from others. Never underestimate the power or the need to network; you never know when a certain contact may come in handy!
2. Seminars & Key-note speakers
In addition to having access to 75+ hours of CPD-accredited seminar sessions that can be attended, there will also be a key-note speaker’s area. Why not maintain your learning and stay up to date with the latest knowledge? Developing and keeping up to date with your continued professional development helps you to reflect on your learning and apply the knowledge to real world scenarios. There are various informative seminars to attend over the three day span; you can find a detailed agenda here.
Furthermore, visitors can benefit from listening to key-note speakers. Inspirational public figures will share their experiences in relation to health and safety. Jonny Wilkinson CBE, Steph McGovern and Eddie the Eagle are all speaking at this year’s show. There will be panel debates, in addition to the annual Women in Health and Safety Event. The guests will cover subjects ranging from mental health, education and training, all the way to risk and injury.
3. Workplace Well-being
At the show there will be the chance to explore the more holistic side of health and safety. Well-being is important within the workplace, with poor mental health affecting many individuals at work. The emphasis on well-being awareness can be seen through the Workplace Well-being Show featuring at this year’s Expo.
There will be a well-being theatre, with content to inspire HR Professionals, H&S practitioners, and managers alike to improve the well-being in their workplaces. A healthy eating cafe will also serve salad boxes and protein power bowls to encourage healthy eating, which can help contribute to a healthy mental state. There will also be a wellness wall, where experts from IWFM (Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management) discuss ideas on how to strengthen workplace well-being.
